Webi don't know why that's happening, but you could possibly try checking the "geometry mirror" box in the mirror options window. by default it will try to mirror the "process" and occasionally that will mess up. by selecting "geometry mirror" it just replicates the output geometry. it sounds like a fine difference but it can cause some patterns and mirrors to fail.
